Instrument Cables
A quality instrument cable truly has the power to make a remarkable difference in your musical experience. When it comes to the transmission of audio signals from your instrument to your amplifier or recording device, the cable you choose plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and fidelity of your sound. A high-quality instrument cable ensures optimal signal clarity.

Curt's Personal Recommendations

I use the Analysis Plus instrument cable as well as an Evidence Audio Lyric HG, and Mogami cables. High end cables that deliver the true sound of your ukulele and/or guitar.

I've have several Klotz and Planet Wave cables around the studio but the Evidence Lyric HG, Analysis Plus, and Mogami cables are my first choices for performance.

Note: You might notice that there are not a lot of cables listed on this page. I've only shown high quality cables that I have and do use or come highly recommended by fellow musicians.

Wireless Recommendations: Shure BLX14R Wireless Guitar System Rack-mount Guitar System or Shure GLXD16 Wireless Guitar Pedal System • w/Built in tuner.

Why Spend So Much for an Instrument Cable?

You’ve spent a good bit of money on a quality instrument and amplifier. So, why go cheap on one of the main links in your sound chain.

You WILL be amazed at what a difference a good quality instrument cable can do. I thought it didn't make a difference – but it does. On this page are listed quality instrument cables, and they do make a difference. There is a line from one of the cable companies that sums it up. "If you can't hear the difference, you don't need it."

For higher-end, quality cables I recommend Analysis Plus, Evidence Audio, Mogami or the NEW LUXE by Martin . I also recommend more affordable cables from Klotz, Monster, and Planet Waves, I use these in the teaching studios and the Funky Frets Music Store for customers to try out gear.

Martin
C. F. Martin & Co., Inc.

Martin's steadfast adherence to high standards of musical excellence, mixed with experienced management, has largely accounted for the company's remarkable longevity. Marketing methods and product mix have changed at Martin over the years, but the company attitude towards guitar building has never varied. In the preface to the 1904 catalog, Frank Henry Martin explained to potential customers, “How to build a guitar to give this tone is not a secret. It takes care and patience. Care in selecting the materials, laying out the proportions, and attending to the details which add to the player's comfort. Patience in giving the necessary time to finish every part. A good guitar cannot be built for the price of a poor one, but who regrets the extra cost for a good guitar?” Almost eighty years have passed since Frank Henry Martin authored this statement of policy, but it still is an accurate expression of Martin's ongoing commitment to quality.

What About Wireless?

Unless you get a Pro, higher-end, quality wireless system, a quality cable will out perform any wireless system.

The majority of Digital wireless guitar systems above $300 DO NOT change your tone.

Recommended Wireless Systems

* This refers to the MHx range. H9 Band (512-542MHz), H10 Band (542-572MHz), H11 Band (572-596MHz), J11 Band (596-608 + 614-616MHz)

Frequency range, or radio spectrum, operates between 3 kHz to 300 GHz. Frequency bands are an interval in the frequency domain, having a fixed boundary between a lower frequency and an upper frequency.

You will get what you pay for when it comes to wireless systems.
