Which Way Is Up? - Up, Down, Ascending, Descending, etc...
Up, Down, Ascending, Descending, Higher, Lower, Top, Bottom, What is up, down, higher, lower, top, bottom, ascending, descending?
The only gravitational reference that we can make that aligns with our familiar orientation to earth and gravity is the stroke direction - whether single or multiple notes. Down is down and up is up. ALL other references should be communicated in relationship to musical direction.
However, know the street
terms that are often used is beneficial when communication with players not familiar with the proper musical terms.
