Joshua Tree Music Festival
These independently produced music festivals are held annually in the shadows of the infamous Joahua Tree National Park. They are two (of the very few) multi-day campout music festivals in Southern California featuring live music. Music lovers of all ages enjoy this phenomenal live music in an intimate setting and magical surroundings. The spring festival features an eclectic line up of performers; dance-world-electro-funk’n groove. The fall fest differs musically with artists of the more rootsicana-newgrassy-folkadelic realms. The two different musical stylings create distinct audiences at the festivals, but many folks do attend both. The town of Joshua Tree is located in the high desert of the magical Mojave, 50 minutes from Palm Springs, 2.5 hour drive from LA, 3 from San Diego, 3.5 from Vegas, and 5 from Phoenix, at the entrance to the world renowned national park.
Joyce Flaugher
Have loved music and dance all my life. Enjoy all kinds of music, but my favorite is Hawaiian. I have been playing and teaching ukulele since 1985. I plunk at piano for my own amazement and have taken private and class lessons on that instrument. I am a closet percussionist and recently began playing simple tunes on harmonica. I have taken steel guitar lessons, but haven’t made time to practice. I am a songwriter and enjoy the creative process. I also dance and teach hula, which may explain why I don’t have time to practice music. ;-)
Julia Nunes
Julia Nunes, a YouTube ukulele phenomenon, is a freshman in college. She has been playing guitar and ukulele for four years, and writing original songs for nearly that long. Her first CD, “Left Right Wrong” from JuNu Music, was released in the summer of 2007, consisting of ten original songs, and includes two live performances. Beginning in January 2008, Julia’s unique sense of humor and canny lyric-writing ability, coupled with catchy, can’t-get-it-out-of-your-head melodies, began to be noticed on YouTube. Her videos, cleverly edited, have received more than 2 million views, with subscriptions to her channel in the five figures, and rising.

His Dad had a large music collection of island and mainland artists that fueled his music desires. As a child, the Hawaiian Slack Key guitar was introduced to him by Jonah Kipi. Moon performs at the Annual Master of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festivals in Hawaii. The Ukulele, introduced by his Mom, was reinforced by Kumu-Ukulele Virtuoso, Herb Ohta San.
Kaka'ako Instruments
The inspiration came from the Hawaiian Lap Steel. The bluesy, sweet melodious sound that can only be felt here in Hawai'i. We started building Authentic Hawaiian Lap Steel's & Ukulele's right here in Kaka'ako (Honolulu) and we are now part of a greater movement to bring forth the acoustic square neck design that requires no electricity or amp. Otherwise known as a Weissenborn Style guitar, it is an instrument that becomes so inspiring and personal, you will never let it go.
