Andy Powers Musical Instrument Co.
Andy Powers grew up in a music-loving family in Oceanside, California. At the age of five Andy, the son of a carpenter and his artist wife, had his first workbench and shortly thereafter began playing piano. Andy took up playing the guitar when he was eight. In a house where musical instruments, tools and wood were all readily available, curiosity got the better of him and he began his first attempts at building guitars before the age of ten. With design and sound refinement the instruments began to improve tremendously, and Andy began selling the instruments to customers while he was still a teenager. Having been encouraged by his parents to pursue the arts, he began to explore the world of traditional inlayed art, using his instruments as a canvas.

A little about me: Primarily a self taught guitarist, pursuing the ukulele for approximately six years, I have spent the last couple of years concentrating on the ukulele. Not being able to find tablature for the ukulele in the same quality and format as was (and still is) available for the guitar is the motivation behind this site. Since books containing ukulele tab were not available, I decided I would try to transcribe the songs myself and make them available for others to learn from as well.

I strive to make the best ukuleles in both sound and sight. Goat Rock Ukulele is not a ukulele factory. I build few instruments at a time. Each ukulele is unique. I love building themed instruments that have connection to the eventual owner. I often build with recycled wood. Many woods harvested decades ago are of higher quality then is now available. I have recycled redwood from 75 year old cabernet wine tanks. It’s stained a beautiful purple from the wine. This wood will make an amazing top for a vintner themed Ukulele.

And without my friends, family, and the others who have believed in me and supported my endeavors, none of this would have been possible.

Tiki King
As close as I can figure it started back in about 1966. My uncle was a surfer, and he once gave my dad a three foot stone Tiki as a gift. My dad put it out under the big tree next to my play house, where it stood for almost twenty years until said tree was cut down and the Tiki disappeared. But back then that Tiki was about as close to magic as it gets. It made an impression I guess. I have been carving Tikis as long as I can remember, but things really got going in 1993 on the day my wife and I drove up north for our honeymoon.

Uke University
Stu Herreid heads up “Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Ukulele in hand, totally strummed out, shouting: ‘Holy cow, what a jam!’” and remember, SMILE when you play that Bb chord!
Ukiyo Ukuleles
Ukiyo Ukuleles is the brand name used by luthier Marc Schoenberger. He started making instruments professionally in the early 1990’s and after a stint with Third Wave Ukuleles, a now defunct, (sometime after 2001), manufacturer from San Luis Obispo, he went off to found Ukiyo in 2000. He builds Soprano Concert and Tenor scale Ukuleles plus some reproductions of famous old models like the Stromberg-Voisinet Aero and the Harmony Vita.

Ukulele Books by Peter and Donna Thomas
One day I thought to myself, “I love to make books and I love to play the ukulele. Can I put these two loves together? Can I make a book out of a uke?” After Donna and I made the first one, I thought, “How many more can we make? Each one will have to represent a different book structure, format or concept and each will still have to play....”
Ukulele Club of Santa Cruz - Burning Uke
Because of serious problems with our reservations at Little Basin, we are moving this year’s “Burning Uke” to a new venue: The Hidden Valley Music Seminars Center, located in the heart of beautiful Carmel Valley. It’s the same place that’s been our happy home for Smoldering Uke these past few years. We chose Hidden Valley because it’s a well-run facility with a friendly staff that provides us with a very comfortable place to stay, eat and play. Although it’s a slightly longer drive for most of us who live in the city of Santa Cruz, it’s a pleasant drive—and there are no windy mountain roads full of pot holes to navigate.
We also have a new date for Burning Uke - Thursday, September 10th to Sunday the 13th. This is about a week earlier than we’ve held the event in previous years, and may help us avoid the early-fall rain showers that have plagued us for the last two years!.
Ukulele Creations
`Ukulele Creations is a comprehensive music program based in Southern California, developed by six- time GRAMMY award winner, Daniel Ho, and Jason Arimoto, Ph.D.
Daniel and Jason met in July 2010 at an `ukulele festival in Cairns, Australia. After sharing a 15-hour plane ride halfway around the globe, they realized that they had grown up only a few miles from each other in Honolulu, Hawaii and were currently living only a few miles away from each other in Los Angeles.
Their mutual interest in ukulele and music education inspired their creation of a multi-faceted venture dedicated to "all things `ukulele" - recordings, books, DVDs, accessories, events, workshops, private lessons.
Ukulele Jams
Rodney Takahashi was born and raised in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu. Rodney was taught under the direction of the well known Roy Sakuma Studios. Today Rodney has his own little studio in the heart of San Jose’s Japan Town. There he teaches with hopes and dreams that the art of playing the ukulele will carry on. “The best feeling an instructor can have is when you hear them play something you’ve taught.’ I am truely blessed to have such great and talented students. Thank you all for making Ukulele Jams what it is today.
Ukulele Jams Festival
The festival is our way of introducing people to the culture, spirit and sounds of Hawaiian music. The art of playing the ukulele has a major impact on the Hawaiian culture. A culture that transcends across many musical boundaries outside of Hawaii. As such, we are striving to preserve this art and culture through all ages and in our communities. The ukulele is not just an instrument; it’s a way of life.

The combination of Jim’s lilting voice with the sweetness of the ukulele is notable in catchy, emotive songs that bridge the gaps between Pop, Rock, Country and Folk music.
