Origins: Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Barney first appeared in 1959. His personality was directly inspired by Ed Norton (played by Art Carney) from the 1950s sitcom The Honeymooners.
He is short, has light blond hair, and typically wears a brown loincloth or sleeveless tunic. Unlike the hot-tempered and ambitious Fred, Barney is generally satisfied with life, though he good-naturedly tags along on Fred's various get-rich-quick schemes and misadventures.
He is married to Betty Rubble and is the adoptive father of Bamm-Bamm Rubble.
