Herman Vandecauter

Both in England and in Germany Herman Vandecauter modeled his skills on great masters and pedagogues. Ancient plucked instruments are a specialty of his: the classical guitar, the theorbo-lute, the Neapolitan mandolin and the recently also the ukulele. His fascination for instrumental virtuosity, dynamism and emotion made for the development of his personal technique. Since 1973, Herman Vandecauter has given solos on plucked instruments and has accompanied poems and songs, not only in his native country but also in England, France, Germany, Malaysia and Spain, amongst others during the International Festival for Plectrum Instruments in Logroño. He has also been a freelance co-operator on the mandolin and the theorbo-lute both of the baroque orchestra Il Fondamento in their musical productions for the Festival of Flanders and of the opera of the Munt-schouwburg in Brussels. Creativeness stems from the discovery of an unhoped for richness of sound, a sound quality in which new frontiers are being explored. This is music, which, because of its dynamism and emotion, should be savored live.

Gordon Velasco
I’ve jammed with Gordon many times. Gordon puts on a great show and performs in the D.C. area. A lot of fun to be around and play with. Gordon passed on September 2013 and will be sadly missed. A great friend and ukulele buddy. Checkout Gordon’s performance at the Funky Frets Grand Opening, October 2012.

VogueTricity
Tricity Vogue

Tricity Vogue took up the ukelele in 2007 in an attempt to recreate the Big Band sound single-handed after her musicians stood her up for a gig. She fell in love with the small pink instrument and has since become a wandering troubadour, appearing with her ukelele everywhere from Paris to Portlaoise, and from Edinburgh to Ealing.

From the cover of the Spring Issue of Ukulele Magazine to the front page of The Wall Street Journal, Victoria Vox is making appearances everywhere—and rightly so. The artistry of her performances is both unique and endearing, captivating an incredibly diverse audience and drawing even the least musical of folks into her harmonious web.
