Ukulele Uogb
Listing Info
from the Peter Brooke Turner web site
Tony Penultimate is the pseudonym of Peter Brooke Turner of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. He has released two albums of his own quirky songs which show all the ill digested influences of Jake Thackray, Frank Zappa, Tom Lehrer, the Bonzo Dog Doodah Band, the Temperance Seven and Ivor Cutler, with the occasional touch of Peter Sellers and The Beach Boys…
Tony is best known for his towering performances (he’s 6’8”!) with the international touring group, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. Their most recent album, ‘The Secret of Life’ featured one of Tony’s songs - ‘The Stage’, and the band toured Japan in March 2004, as well as a sold out run at the Barbican Theatre, London. The Uke’s also performed on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny TV show on New Years Eve 2005 along with other acts Franz Ferdinand, Basement Jaxx and Eric Clapton. The Ukes were recently profiled in Time Magazine and are due to tour Sweden, Australia and Germany in 2006.
