We realised that finding performers is easy and finding an audience is hard. Who wouldn’t want to turn up and play to a ready audience! So we decided we need to get our performers to also be a part of our audience and only offer a discount to performers.
We want a “contract” that as well as performing we become an enthusiastic and encouraging audience for our other ukulele friends. So our philosophy is to organise a Festival where ukulele groups “play to participate”, not “play for pay”. In other words, it is a participatory Festival where you put something in, and where you take something away from it when you go home.
